Debbie started her risk management career in 1988 when she joined the risk management department at CertainTeed. In the ensuing 25 years, she has held positions of increased responsibility in many facets of risk management. Since 2003, Debbie has led the global risk management function at Aramark, with responsibility for safety & risk control, insurance placement, analytics and insured claims management. Aramark, a publically traded company, is a leading global provider of food, facilities and uniform services to education, healthcare, business & industry, sports, leisure and corrections, and other clients had sales of $13.9 billion in 2013.
Debbie received the ARM designation in 1995. She has an MBA from Villanova University and a B.S. in Education from the University of Delaware.
She is active in many professional associations, including several that combine her interests in risk management and education. Debbie serves on the Board of the Insurance Society of Philadelphia (where she served as Chair from 2011-2013) and the Board of Governors for the Academy of Risk Management and Insurance at St. Joseph University. She has held a number of leadership positions at RIMS and is also an active member of several other Risk Management and Advisory Boards.
Debbie and her team have been privileged to receive a number of awards, including the Theodore Roosevelt Workers’ Compensation and Disability Management Award from Risk and Insurance Magazine and 2013 Excellence in Workers Compensation Risk Management from the National Underwriter. Debbie has been personally recognized as “Risk Manager of the Year” by Business Insurance and the “Beyond the Glass Ceiling” award by the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the American Red Cross. She is frequent speaker at industry events and also speaks regularly to university students studying risk management and insurance.
Debbie is a lifelong Philadelphia area resident. Husband, Paul Meyer, is the Executive Director of the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania.
